University Closed in Observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 16
Columbia University will be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 16, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Dr. King, who promoted community service, once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
To honor his legacy, in 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday as a national day of service. As part of its own longstanding commitment to public service, Columbia University invites students, faculty and staff members to volunteer their time and skills to help individuals and organizations.
