Becoming an Advocate for Human and Civil Rights

Before joining Columbia Law School, Yasmin Theodros Dagne worked as a program assistant in Senegal for the United Nations World Food Programme. It inspired her to pursue law so she could be "a more effective advocate."

At Columbia, she was selected to be the Leonard H. Sandler Fellow at Human Rights Watch, where she will spend a year investigating human rights abuses. Additionally, she also dove into civil rights throughout her academic career and had the chance to work on a voter ID case in the state of Alabama during an election season.
