Remembering Raoul Kitungano: The Role of Human Rights Defenders in Addressing Conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)


Plesae join the Human Rights Institute at Columbia Law School and the Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR) at Columbia University for an in memoriam discussion with Free the Slaves Executive Director Bukeni Waruzi on the legacy of DRC Human Rights Defender Raoul Kitungano. 

The event will examine the drivers and impact of the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo including the role of civil society in addressing human rights violations committed against vulnerable communities. The event will further explore the unique contributions of Human Rights Defender Raoul Kitungano. Before passing in 2022, Kitungan was the Coordinator of DRC-based Justice Pour Tous (Justice For All) and a member of ISHR's Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP).
