Sunday, August 15, marked the end of the 47th annual Harlem Week celebrating the rich African American, African, Caribbean, Hispanic, and European history of the neighborhood, as well as arts, culture, religion, business, entertainment, and sports. Columbia continues to salute and support Harlem Week each year for the smiles it brings to participants' faces.

Lisa Herndon (JRN'16), communications and publications manager at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, captured this footloose and fancy-free photo of one such participant grooving alongside a group of people doing a line dance to Fugees' remake of "Killing Me Softly" on Sunday.

"He looked so happy and carefree that I wanted to capture the moment," Herndon said.
