Honoring Those Who Have Sacrificed for Our Country

On Memorial Day, the university honors and remembers those who have died serving in the United States military. Here's a photo from 1942 of Columbia University World War II U.S. Navy midshipmen at attention in their respective units on South Field. Columbia’s students and graduates have participated in every major military conflict in which the United States has been involved and, sadly, some of them are among the fallen.
