Our Newest Dental Students Are All Smiles

Dozens of dental students in white coats smile and pose in front of blue Columbia signage as their friends and family take photos of them at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Columbia's College of Dental Medicine (CDM) welcomed 84 Class of 2027 students at its White Coat Ceremony this week. The annual rite-of-passage ceremony, symbolizing the transition into the medical field, is especially meaningful because of its Columbia roots: the first full White Coat Ceremony, now practiced at schools around the world, was founded by the late Arnold P. Gold, professor of clinical neurology and pediatrics, and was held at Columbia's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1993. Congratulations to our dental students!

Photo of the Week is a feature of Columbia News that captures moments from around the University and New York City.
