Welcome to Our Medical Students

Several medical students in white coats recite the Hippocratic Oath at the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons White Coat Ceremony at Columbia University Irving Medical Center

August 14, 2026

Columbia's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons welcomed 140 medical students at its annual rite-of-passage White Coat Ceremony. With the help of VP&S faculty, the future physicians donned the profession's most recognizable symbol (the white coat) for the first time, recited a version of the Hippocratic Oath written by the incoming class, and embraced a commitment to compassionate patient-centered care. Congratulations to the Class of 2030!
