Xi Song

Professor, Department of Sociology

Xi Song’s research examines how artificial intelligence and technological change reshape work, inequality, and opportunities for mobility. Through the Occupation Lab, she studies occupational transformation and the barriers workers face in moving from declining to growing occupations. She also develops applications of large language models for social science research, including occupational classification. Her work connects computational methods with sociological questions about who benefits and who risks being left behind as the economy changes.
