Columbia Commencement is going virtual this year, but that hasn’t dimmed our excitement to celebrate our grads wherever they may be in the world. We’ve been busy collecting your memories, shout-outs, regalia photos, video montages, and Instagram grad-cap filter selfies in our commencement content form and loving every submission that’s come in for inclusion in this year’s ceremony, taking place on April 30.

Check out these six photos and reflections below from this year’s graduates, which are giving us all the feels. Submit yours as soon as possible to be included in the festivities. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #RoarLions2021 to celebrate this year’s grads!

4. Hafsa Khawaja, GSAS'21

Hafsa Khawaja, Aaisha Salman, Sarah Malik, and Ramsha Siddiqui.

“Coming to an entirely new continent to study, oceans away from family and familiarity, is never quite easy, writes Khawaja. "But ending up in the same program as three brilliant, kind, intelligent, and wonderful women — Aaisha Salman (GSAS '20), Sarah Malik (GSAS '20), and Ramsha Siddiqui (GSAS '21) — gave me a community of comfort, friendship, joy, and love that I will hold onto for an entire lifetime and that I will always remember my graduate school experience by. I am tremendously grateful to have encountered these three incredible individuals at Columbia and in the city of New York. These people and these places were and will always be my home away from home.”

5. Zeng Yao, SEAS’21
