October 29, 2026

On October 28, for the 24 hours of Columbia Giving Day, members of the University community worldwide joined together around a shared purpose: to champion Columbia and further its teaching, research, and learning mission.

Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends gave 12,477 gifts totaling $27,491,147, representing a 1.55% increase in gifts and a 15.85% increase in dollars raised from last year. Gifts were made from all 50 states in the U.S. and 50 different countries. The Leaderboards page features final results, including school and unit challenge winners, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Giving Day has been a Columbia University tradition since 2012, with more than 61,500 donors since the start and many who participate year after year. The event features a fun spirit of competition, with hourly and daylong Giving Day Challenges giving donors the opportunity to make even more of an impact by winning $300,000 in additional funds for the schools, programs, and causes that mean the most to them.

This year, President Jennifer L. Mnookin joined in the fun for the first Giving Day of her tenure, sharing video messages with the community and offering the President’s Challenge during the 21st hour.
